Our Rotary Club of Kapolei Sunset and our Island Pacific Academy Interact Club (Rotary for high school age) teamed up to join the island-wide "Ridge to Reef Clean-up and Data Collection" for "Rotary At Work Day". We did a clean-up right here in the city of Kapolei.
The Rotary Club of Kapolei Sunset and the Island Pacific Academy Interact Club spent the morning of April 24, 2021 picking up trash in Kapolei from Wal-Mart to Costco making our community safer and caring for our island. We tallied some of the more common trash items. We picked up over 200 plastic food wrappers, almost 200 disposable drink cups and straws, and over 400 cigarette butts. In all, we picked up and properly disposed of around 100 pounds of trash. Rotary Clubs all over Hawaii participated by cleaning up beaches, hikes, bike paths, parks, and even in the ocean with scuba divers!
