Our RCKS members and friends walked to help "End Polio Now"! This walk was to raise awareness of Rotary's efforts to help eradicate polio from the world. We gathered together with our friends on May 1st and May 3rd and took to the pavement to spread the word about Rotary's efforts across the globe.
Polio is the world's forgotten disease and something that should have been made history a long time ago. It is a crippling and potentially fatal infectious disease. There is no cure, but there are safe and effective vaccines. The strategy to eradicate polio is therefore based on preventing infection by immunizing every child until transmission stops and the world is polio-free.
We raised awareness AND we raised money for the Polio Plus foundation! We are part of the end game strategy to help make Polio history so that no child ever again suffers paralytic poliomyelitis.
